This Month At Men Healing

We’re excited to announce open registration for the Alumni Peer Support Group for Fathers! This unique, peer-led group starts Nov. 5 and is intended for male survivors with children. With an innovative and compassionate approach to healing, these online sessions offer an opportunity for fathers recovering from sexual harm to decrease isolation and build connections in a safe and supportive environment. More than 1 in every 6 men have been sexually abused. Most male survivors wait decades to tell anyone. But healing is possible — and David’s story is proof. MenHealing’s Weekends of Recovery helped him transform self-protection into self-acceptance. In this video, he reflects on finding safety, compassion, and connection with other survivors, and how that healing journey now shapes his work in law enforcement.

Sexual harm can leave lasting physical effects – but not all scars are visible. Some survivors disconnect from their bodies, blocking awareness of how they were harmed. Others become hyper-aware, constantly on alert.

Our Skills for Healing video series invites survivors to reconnect through Body Awareness, an essential part of the healing journey. Developing body awareness builds the foundation for somatic healing – helping survivors listen to, understand, and gently reclaim their relationship with their bodies.

Although sexual violence has long been framed as a women’s issue, the reality is that survivors and those who cause harm can be of any gender. Recognizing this truth, MenHealing joined forces with Speak Your Truth Today, FORGE, and MaleSurvivor in 2022 to establish the first Male Survivor Awareness Day.

Each year on October 25, this observance calls for greater education, awareness, and access to resources that honor and include boys and men impacted by sexual harm. This year, the MenHealing Benefit Concert will take place on October 26, aligning with the same weekend as the Fourth Annual Male Survivor Awareness Day—a powerful moment to celebrate healing, amplify voices, and expand understanding for all survivors.

Best Friends Animal Sanctuary in southern Utah is the largest animal rescue sanctuary in the United States, spanning 3,700 acres and caring for over 1,600 abused and neglected animals each day.

In 2021, MenHealing staff and Weekend of Recovery Alumni began volunteering there — survivors offering compassionate care to animals in need. What began as a single weekend of service has grown into an annual tradition. By 2025, our 5th visit had evolved into a full Service Project involving staff, alumni, families, and even youth ages 8–18.

A powerful alliance has formed between Best Friends and MenHealing. We’re honored to feature musical duo blue marble, with Best Friends-affiliated singer Angie and guitarist Thomas as the closing performers at our October 26th Benefit Concert.

RIPPLE EFFECT 2025 is in less than two weeks!! 😱🎵🎉

On Sunday, October 26 at 4pm PT / 7pm ET, we’re hosting our largest gathering of the year: a free online concert benefiting survivors of sexual abuse, featuring incredible music from the Indigo Girls and nearly a dozen other survivor artists and allies. If you haven’t registered, there’s no time like the present.

MenHealing’s Social Media Specialist Zidia Gibson leading the content creation charge as usual, with Creative Director Jordan Masciangelo casually pretending it was his idea first 😅

If you are not already a monthly recurring donor, we invite you to consider joining our Monthly Giving Circle. Becoming a monthly recurring donor at any amount is a simple way YOU can help MenHealing as we continue to reach more men who have experienced sexual harm and their loved ones. Each donation – no matter the amount – contributes to the RIPPLE EFFECT for INSPIRING HOPE / CHANGING LIVES.

P.S.  – It’s not too late to join our movement to provide community and healing for EVERY survivor of sexual trauma.
